Marie R. Boutcher of Laurel died at Riverhead Care Center Nov. 11, 2015. She was 93 years old.
She was born in Bay Shore, Nov. 16, 1921, to Robert Raymond and Bessie May (née Foster) Ryder.
Predeceased by her husband, Frederic H. Boutcher, Jr. on December 13, 1995, she is survived by sons; Robert F. (Sharon), Frederic III and Gerald (Arta); five grandchildren: Johanna Gamboa, Frederic Boutcher IV, Nathan Boutcher, Andrew Boutcher and Emmadora Boutcher and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Betty Brown.
Marie was a music teacher at Riverhead BOCES; teaching being her true passion. She also gave private lessons in her home for many years. Marie was active for many years in the Mattituck Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. After retirement was a volunteer for RSVP. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved family.
The family will receive vistors Friday, Nov. 13 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Laurel Cemetery.
