Longtime Cutchogue resident Benedikt “Ben” Benediktsson died Monday, May 10, 2021. He was 58.
Ben was born Jan. 2, 1963, in Reykjavik, Iceland, to Asthildur (Thordardottir) and Gudmundur Benediktsson. He attended and graduated from North Babylon (N.Y.) High School.
On July 15, 1994, he married the love of his life, Diane M. O’Brien, at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church in West Babylon. Together they had two children and made their home in Cutchogue.
Ben was the owner and proprietor of Ice Electric Inc. in Cutchogue.
Ben is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Courtney and Brittany; parents, Gudmundur and Asthildur; and sister, Anna. He was a loving brother-in-law and friend to many as well.
The family received visitors May 14 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated May 15 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, with Msgr. Joseph Staudt officiating. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
