Longtime Aquebogue resident Frank H. Slavonik died Sept. 21, 2016. He was 88.
He was born June 11, 1928, in Orient, to Stanlislaw and Laura (Janeczko) Slavonik. Educated in Mattituck Schools, he married the former Edna Breitenbach in 1950 and together they made their home in south Aquebogue. They eventually built a home on Church Lane in Aquebogue and Frank farmed the land on West Lane. In later years, he was a landscaper.
He enjoyed tending to his yard and gardens, riding his tractor and growing vegetables.
Predeceased by his wife Edna on April 30, 2012, he is survived by children, Cheryl Rosset of North Carolina, Nancy Keller of Riverhead and Terri Slavonik of Calverton and four grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Monday, Sept. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. with Father Robert Kuznik of St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
